WHAT IS A FOCUS GROUP?

Focus Groups are studies provided by the church for the purpose of equipping Christ-followers on a particular topic. They serve as learning intensives that help followers of Jesus in thinking biblically along with providing tools that spin spiritual growth. Focus Groups are centered on a class learning environment and can run anywhere from a one night intensive to many weeks. Examples of Focus Groups are Precepts, Bible study methods, church history, Baptism Class, etc.

REQUIREMENTS

Focus Group Leaders must be members of Spring Lake and fill out a Focus Group Proposal. Focus Groups that are taught are in line with our statement of faith. All interested leaders must have an approved General Leadership Application and a completed background check. If only one man and one woman show up at a particular group, that event must be cancelled.

EXPECTATIONS

Approval for the Focus Group is given through Adult Ministries. In order to approve the group/material the proposed leader is responsible for acquiring the necessary information for Adult Ministries to make an informed decision. Once approved, the leader of the Focus Group (that's you!) is responsible for communication with group participants, arranging the setup of the room, greeting participants, learning the technology necessary, etc. Please note that any costs for any resources (books, workbooks, etc.) used should be covered by those participating in the group. Focus Groups do not take the place of Life Groups, but work alongside as short term equipping opportunities. Participants of Focus Groups should be encouraged to participate in Life Groups if they are not already.

UPON APPROVAL

The Adult Ministries staff will be in touch with you regarding the best dates and space for your group. Your group will be listed on the Focus Groups/Events page and communication of your group will occur through church communication channels according to church communication strategies.
